A joyful hand stitching workshop with Sarah Payne
Fancy a few hours of slowing down, stitching by hand and getting gloriously absorbed in thread, colour and creativity?
Join me for a relaxed and inspiring evening where we will explore simple decorative hand embroidery stitches whilst creating something beautiful and uniquely yours.
When - Tuesday 28th July - 7pm to 9pm
Where - The Creative Barn, Seaton Grange Offices, Grange Lane, Seaton, Uppingham, Rutland, LE15 9HT
Whether you are completely new to embroidery, haven’t stitched by hand since school, or already love a bit of slow stitching, this workshop is all about enjoying the process and building confidence with needle and thread.
I will guide you through a collection of useful and decorative stitches step by step, sharing plenty of tips, ideas and encouragement along the way. We will play with colour, texture and pattern as you create your own stitched design.
Think flowers, texture, doodled thread drawings, decorative details and a lovely, calming few hours of creative escape.
No pressure.
No perfection.
Just stitch, creativity and a warm welcome.
During the workshop we may explore:
• Running stitch
• Back stitch
• Blanket stitch
• French knots
• Lazy daisy stitch
• Decorative textures and embellishment ideas
• Simple design inspiration and composition
This is a wonderful workshop for developing hand sewing confidence, discovering the joy of embroidery and enjoying a little mindful making.
All materials provided.
Feel free to bring reading glasses if needed… and a favourite thimble if you have one hiding in a sewing tin somewhere!
Expect tea, chatter, colourful threads, inspiration and a very satisfying amount of stitching.
You will leave with new skills, a stitched piece to continue or finish at home, and quite possibly a dangerous urge to buy embroidery threads in every colour imaginable.
Suitable for beginners and improvers.
Come and spend an afternoon stitching with me. Your washing up can wait.
Supplies included, or bring along your own special project.
