Fancy learning how to turn worn, damaged or much-loved clothes into something beautifully stitched and full of character?
Join me for a relaxed, creative workshop exploring the traditional Japanese arts of Sashiko stitching and Boro mending. We will use simple hand stitching techniques to repair, reinforce and decorate fabric, giving textiles a new lease of life whilst creating something wonderfully unique.
This is slow stitching at its best – calming, creative and surprisingly addictive at the all new Creative Barn, Seaton, Rutland.
During the workshop, I will introduce you to the fascinating history behind Sashiko and Boro, before guiding you through traditional stitching techniques, patterns and visible mending ideas. You will have plenty of inspiration to work from, along with stencil templates, demonstrations, tips and lots of encouragement.
Whether you want to repair a favourite pair of jeans, add some personality to a jacket or simply spend a couple of happy hours learning a beautiful new hand sewing skill to decorate a coaster, this workshop is for you.
You will leave with new stitching skills, your own stitched piece or repaired item, and lots of ideas to carry on at home.
Included:
• All materials provided
• Stencils, inspiration and hands-on tuition
• Bring your own clothes or textiles to mend if you would like
Suitable for beginners – no experience needed, just a willingness to have a go!

Come and stitch with me, slow down for a couple of hours, and discover just how satisfying it can be to repair, create and sew with purpose.
