**Bags of Fun! Virtual Sewing Retreat weekend with Sarah Payne 19–21 February 2027

Fancy a sewing weekend away without packing your machine? Join me for a relaxed virtual retreat and make a gorgeous quilted bag from the comfort of home. Your own machine, your favourite fabrics and the kettle exactly where you left it!

We’ll create a bag with lovely finishing touches, including a fancy clasp, D-rings, bag feet, a zip and a sturdy base. Your hardware kit, worth £20, is included. Just add your own fabric, wadding and the supplies on your requirements list.

A whole weekend of sewing and company

We’ll kick things off on Friday, 6–7.30pm, with introductions, fabric sharing and a light-hearted sewing quiz. Bring your favourite drink and meet your fellow makers. No sewing required!

On Saturday and Sunday, 10am–3pm, we’ll get making. I demonstrate, then you have a go, with time to sew, ask questions and enjoy seeing everyone’s bags take shape. There’ll be a lunch break and regular opportunities to stretch and put the kettle on.

What happens when you book?

Your requirements list will be attached to your booking ticket, along with your Zoom joining details, so you can start choosing your fabrics.

Your hardware kit and cutting list will be sent two weeks before the retreat, giving you time to prepare.

After the retreat, you’ll receive the full pattern and edited teaching recordings, so you can revisit techniques, catch up or make another bag. Suitable for all levels!

Sew at your own pace

Suitable for confident beginners and improvers who are comfortable using their sewing machine. I’ll guide you through the bag-making techniques step by step.

If you get tired or need a break, take one! There’s no pressure to finish during the weekend, and the recordings will help you carry on afterwards. There are no medals for finishing first.
