Create a fabulous fabric shoe that you would probably never wear, but would absolutely love to own!
In this fun and relaxed workshop, Sarah will introduce you to raw edge appliqué and show you how to build a colourful shoe design using layers of fabric. You will learn how to prepare and position your appliqué pieces before using simple free motion stitching to secure the shapes and bring your design to life.
Add colour, pattern, detail and plenty of personality to make your shoe completely unique. Your finished appliqué can be turned into a framed picture, cushion, bag panel or quilt block.
What you will learn
During the workshop, Sarah will show you how to:
- Prepare a design for raw edge appliqué
- Choose and combine fabrics confidently
- Trace, cut and position your appliqué pieces
- Use fusible web to hold the design in place
- Secure the shapes with simple free motion stitching
- Add stitched details and embellishments
- Develop your appliqué into a finished project
Who is this course for?
This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers. You do not need any previous appliqué or free motion stitching experience, although you should be comfortable using a sewing machine and an iron. All materials included in the price.
Sarah’s supportive, beginner-friendly teaching style will help you relax, experiment and enjoy the process. There are no wrong colour choices and no two shoes will look the same.
