Spring Sewing School with Sarah Payne

Where is it? The event is being held in the main conference room at Peterborough Workspace 28-29 Maxwell Road, Peterborough, PE2 7JE.

When is it? It is being held over 3 days from Friday 18th Frebruary to Sunday 20th February. The classes will run daily from 10am to 4pm with an hour lunch. However, the building will be open from 9am – 5pm each day so you can arrive early and leave later if you wish.

On Friday I would like to start at 10am with a coffee/tea and a chat so we can get to know each other and decide who wants to work on what. Please arrive before 10am if you can so that we can get you settled.

What shall I bring? Something to sew! You can bring whatever you like – perhaps you have a UFO you are desperate to finish, or there is a technique you are finding a challenge. Or perhaps you have a pattern you haven’t even started yet. Bring your fabrics (I have a small range of fabrics available to purchase if you wish.) a sewing machine (I also have machines available to rent for £10 for the school – just let me know). You may also want to bring rulers, rotary cutters and cutting mats (though  have spares) and a mini iron. I will also set up an ironing station but bringing your own means that you wont have to worry about queuing!

You can bring a project or select one from my collection – the choice is yours. We will also take a private tour of my studio and warehouse, where you can shop if you like (no pressure). You will get 10% off normal prices and you can pay by cash or card. You need to be aware that you may see things in the studio that have not launched anywhere else yet, so I would ask that you chat to me before sharing anything on social media.

Meals. Lunch will be provided each day so please let me know if you have any dietary requirements so that I can place orders. They will be served individually to meet covid requirements.

Can I get there by train? Yes. Peterborough train station is mainly served by EMR, LNER, and Thameslink trains. Frequent services connect Liverpool to Peterborough in 3h 50m, Lincoln to Peterborough in 1h 11m, and London Kings Cross to Peterborough in less than an hour.

You can get a taxi from the station to Maxwell round for around £7 - £10 depending on the time of day and taxi firm.

There is plenty of parking too!

Peterborough has a lot of hotels and B&Bs for all budgets, with many being easily accessible to PE2 7JE.
