Banqueting Hall

The plans for the dolls house Tudor banqueting hall are quite extensive. The walls will have panels around two of the walls with an expansive fireplace at one end and I have a large chandelier to illuminate it.

I have some miniature food prepared for the banqueting hall. On the table is a roasted boars head with an apple in its mouth, a pork pie, some bread and some oranges (these have since been temporarily moved to the Christmas room).

I am extremely please with the wooden plates that I picked up at Miniatura last year - I never thought I would find anything so authentically tudor!

The furniture is from a number of sources, including a dolls house shop in South Shropshire and a few visits to ebay.

The pewter items are by Tony Knott and were another ebay item. I think that they really finish off the table nicely. All I need now is the rest of the hall to be completed!!

After a few visits to tudor sites I decided that I wanted an impressive hand painted look to the floor of the banqueting hall. So far the best I have managed is to make a start on the hand made tiles. I used air dry clay but due to a miscalculation only bought half the amount I needed so another stint of rolling clay will soon be underway!

One problem is that the tiles do not dry to a uniform colour. I am not sure why this is but I am hoping that this will not detract from it too much. I have painted a few as well and the results are pleasing so far. I have also bought some mosaic tiles in green and black to break up the pattern a little. We will have to see if this works out the way I see it in my minds eye!
