These are the pictures showing the construction of the Tudor Dolls House fireplace for the kitchen.

I used thick card and glued on pieces of balsar wood to give strength to the joints.

I cut out the bread oven and the salt saver as we saw in the Tudor houses at Stratford Upon Avon.

This is the fireplace in the room, just to test that it fits!

I covered the fireplace with Polyfilla to give it a rough texture. I then painted it with white acrylic paint mixed with sand.

The bricks are cut out of sand paper that I have coloured with pastels over the top to give it some extra colour. Once I stuck them on the fireplace I rubbed in some charcoal to leave a 'sooty' stain from the fire.

The final touch was to rough cut a piece of balsar wood to put over the fireplace. Then time to ad the fire, the grate and some freshly cooked bread in the bread oven. A very pleasing result I think.
